Virtual Animal Show| Submit by April 24, 2020

Henrico 4-H is hosting a virtual animal show for any Virginia 4-Her who is interested. We want the youth to record themselves showing off their animal (of any kind) and share their knowledge about their animal.

Below is the recording of an informational session, including tips and tricks we held a couple weeks ago. bit.ly/virtualanimalshow There is also a link to the Facebook event. https://www.facebook.com/events/665135557645166/?active_tab=about

Please see the flyer for information needed to register as well as the rubric that will be used for judging. We have a local vet, LVTs, and ANR agent ready to judge these awesome projects! Please let Carter Humphries (chumphries@vt.edu) know if you have any questions.

Virtual Beef Challenge| April 18, 2020

Saturday, April 18, 2020 10-11:30 a.m.
Held via Zoom, which includes video or telephone connection! Ages 9-19! All welcome!
Register Online at: https://tinyurl.com/wxa8aoa

Registration Deadline: Sunday, April 12, 2020

Overview – This is an individual contest, not a team event like other cooking challenges!
In this virtual contest, pre-registered youth will receive instruction via Zoom at the published start time. No actual cooking will occur, but youth will be assigned a cut of beef, list of available pantry items, and list of available pieces of kitchen equipment. Everyone will receive their “mystery ingredients” information at the same time. Contestants will then have one hour to plan a five-minute presentation, including how they would prepare the beef, ingredients they would use, etc. At the end of the one-hour time frame, all contestants will connect via internet (or call in with telephone) to their unique Zoom meeting and give their presentation, which will be recorded. Recorded presentations will be judged, and awards will be announced online at 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 22nd.

The contest will be based on 4-H Food Challenge and Youth Beef Challenge, both of which had to be canceled due to COVID-19 corona virus restrictions. The contest is open to youth who were on food challenge teams as well as individuals who want to try something new! This is an individual event, not a team event.
