Graduating 2020 Seniors! Here is another scholarship for you! Check out the Culpeper Soil & Water Conservation District's Academic Scholarship. If you are majoring in a field related to conservation like agriculture, environmental science, conservation biology, etc you're eligible!

 The application, transcripts, reference letters, and essay are due on Monday, March 30, 2020 to CSWCD.

Orange County 4-H Archery Club Report | January 5, 2020

The Orange County 4-H Archery Club, and the Madison County 4-H Rifle and Archery Club met at the Orange County Fairgrounds on January 5, 2020 for a meet and greet meeting. 
The purpose of the meeting was to demonstrate how to conduct a 4-H Archery Club meeting. 
The Orange County 4-H members in attendance were Parker Manning, Levi Call, Lucien Palette, John Mason Vines, Jordan Collins, Rebekah Collins, and Madison Sisk. The Madison County 4-H Rifle and Archery Club members in attendance were Nora Walrond, Charles Coble,and Tucker Waycaster. Orange County 4-H Archery Club showed the 4-H guests how to conduct a club meeting. Members introduced themselves to the Madison County Archery and Rifle Club guests and then they introduced themselves to us. All club members reviewed archery safety rules. Members and guests got their gear: bows and arrows. Everyone shot at the hay bale targets and then shot at 3D targets. Members and guests got snacks after shooting. After the meeting, everyone said bye and went home.

Taking Pride in Agriculture Scholarship | Orange County Farm Bureau

High School seniors who have applied to a College / University with the intent of pursuing a degree in an agricultural related field may apply for the Orange County Farm Bureau’s Taking Pride in Agriculture Scholarship.  The scholarship will be applied to the applicant’s second semester tuition or on campus housing and will not be awarded if the student’s first semester GPA falls below 2.0.

The deadline for application submission is March 31, 2020.  The top applicants will be notified for an interview by members of Farm Bureau.  Interviews will be held at the Orange County Farm Bureau office. The winning applicant will be named by May 1, 2020 and will be expected to be present at an Orange County Farm Bureau Board Meeting sometime before the start of their school year.

Exciting opportunity for ninth and tenth graders!! Virginia's Land-Grant Institutions, Virginia State University and Virginia Tech present the Commonwealth's second Junior MANRRS Leadership Institute on May 1-3, 2020 in Blacksburg, VA.
Ninth & tenth grade students are invited to apply to attend the Institute for a weekend of hand-on, minds-on workshops that highlight careers in agriculture, environmental science, life sciences and natural resources. The purpose of the Junior MANRRS Leadership Institute is to promote academic and professional advancement by empowering and exposing underrepresented, underserved, first-generation and diverse students to viable career pathways, while learning how to become the next generation of diverse leaders.
The program is free but you must apply and be accepted to participate. Please contact the Orange Extension Office at 540-672-1361 for applications by February 28.
Livestock and Goat Club members, check your emails. Information was forwarded regarding a March 7 clinic in Culpeper. There are morning sessions followed by a bring-your-own-animal showmanship clinic and contest in the afternoon. We encourage members to take advantage of all educational opportunities like these.

Glenwood 2020 Rules, Entry Forms, and Sponsor Letters Shared

Get ready for the Glenwood Park Livestock Show on Saturday, April 11, in Leesburg. Orange County 4-H'ers are eligible to participate. This is a great show, strong with tradition, and an excellent opportunity to get your animals used to showing.

You will need to mail a 4-H member health history with your entries. This can be printed from your 4-H Online account, or give the Extension office a call and we can print it for you.
